Blizzard Agrees with Valve's "Windows 8 Catastrophe" Statement

Blizzard logoBlizzard's Executive Vice President of Game Design, Rob Pardo, has endorsed the recent statements from Valve boss Gabe Newell, who called the upcoming Windows 8 operating system a catastrophe.

Windows 8 is going to be released on October 26 and brings quite a lot of big changes, from its Metro interface to the dedicated App Store.

As you can imagine, this isn't looking so good for digital distribution services like Valve's Steam, so Gabe Newell called Windows 8 a catastrophe, as it closes the PC platform, which was once open to all software developers.

Blizzard's Rob Pardo agrees with Newell, and commented on his Twitter account that Windows 8 is "not awesome for Blizzard either."

He didn't go into details but, considering Blizzard distributes its own games through its Battle.net system, you can see why the studio is reluctant to shift to the Windows 8 App Store.

As of yet, Microsoft hasn't talked about recent statements.
