Word on the street has it that Microsoft will be rolling out Windows 8 beta to the masses sometime in late February next year – which is pretty interesting considering how the timing of the release has been speculated for quite some time already without any concrete date on the calendar being announced. There is no word on just what the beta will hold, as the feature set is pretty much elusive even for the best digital Sherlock Holmes out there. Of course, it really depends on the engineers who are working on the project as to which modules that they want to throw into the mix.
We have no idea on whether the email function that is missing from the current developer preview of the OS will finally make an appearance in the upcoming beta, so stay tuned! As for the more impatient among us, February might seem to be a long way off, but at least there is some progress made in terms of Windows 8, and hopefully this will be another step forward towards hitting a third quarter launch in 2012.
