Nokia schedules a Symbian event for 12 April, gets even with HTC

Nokia logoNokia is holding an event dedicated to Symbian smartphone on 12 April. Inviting the press to go and "discover what's new with Symbian smartphones" the Finnish company will most likely announce a new addition to its smartphone lineup. Or at least that's what we hope for.

Nokia T7-00, E6 and X7-00 have been living in rumorland for a while now so seeing one or even all of them announced won't come as a huge surprise.

There's also good chance that Nokia will announce the long awaited Symbian^3 update that should bring an improved homescreen, split-screen input and a new web browser.

Yesterday the Vice President and Marketing Director of Nokia India mentioned that we should be expecting big announcements after mid-April so maybe that's the event he was referring to.

Or it could be something completely different. You may have noticed that this event coincides with the HTC press conference and both are held in London. Last year HTC hijacked Nokia World by organizing their own event right after its and and even secured buses to take journalists from the Nokia press conference to theirs.

So there is an outside chance that Nokia is not going to announce anything major and is just trying to steer some of the attention away from HTC.
