The upcoming Windows Phone 7 update will not bring multitasking functionality, according to a Wall Street Journal report that contradicts several details circulated in earlier rumors. The latest information does corroborate suggestions that the platform will gain support for copy and paste features, however.
Aside from the new features that will be noticeable to users, the update is also expected to bring support for CDMA networks. The change will allow Windows Phone 7 handsets to work on networks such as Verizon and Sprint, instead of continuing to limit availability to GSM carriers.
Microsoft claims the update will be released early in 2011, while rumors point to January as the likely target.
