Microsoft has revealed that it is close to reaching 3,000 apps for the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace. The company also has 15,000 registered developers for the platform. With the critical launch of WP7 prior to the holiday season now complete, Microsoft is focused on promoting its apps and games and is using a number of avenues to get the message out.
Its marketing strategy includes posting WP7 apps and games listing using Bing Visual Search, its micosoft.com homepage, as well as leveraging its connectivity with the Xbox 360 platform through the console’s dashboard.
While it still has a lot of ground to catch up to the 300,000 apps of Apple’s iOS platform and 100,000 of Google’s Android, the steadily growing number of developers and apps emerging for WP7 is considered important to restarting Microsoft's mobile development strategy.
