Rovio, the owner of the Angry Birds franchise, plans to launch an entirely different game next week, Battle Bay. If you've been bored by the Finnish company's Angry Birds games, then you'll be pleased to know Battle Bay has nothing to do with the popular series.
In Battle Bay, players will face real opponents in real-time battles where they will try to sink each other's boats. Choose a ship, add some guns to it and search for a worthy opponent. The game allows for large scale battles where teams of five players will face each other.
The game includes a wide array of classes of ships, each with their own specialization. The developers also added lots of weapons, armors, items and abilities that players will be able to take advantage of while clashing in epic sea battles.
Cannons, torpedoes, grenades are just some of the weapons that will be available to players right from the start. Rovio promises some social features will be included in the game as well, such as the option to join guilds and chat with friends.
The game will be available for free, but Rovio mentions it can include direct links to social networking websites that are intended for an audience over the age of 13, as well as advertising of Rovio products and also products from select partners. The option to make in-app purchases will be implemented too.
Battle Bay for Android and iOS will be launched for the general public on May 4. However, those who pre-register will receive a starter pack containing 200 Pearls and one rare item.
