Google is “getting in the holiday spirit” by giving customers that buy a new Chromebook starting today 1TB of free Google Drive storage space. In addition, Google will allow you to keep that 1TB of storage free for two years instead of the typical one-year period that is attached to promotional offers.
Google reminds potential buyers that Chromebooks can be had for as little as $199 these days, and that this two-year, 1TB Google Drive freebie is worth $240. Customers will be able to take part in this special promotion until January 1, 2015, so you have plenty of time to decide if this deal is worth it to you.
For many, however, the big question is going to be whether embracing a cloud-centric device/operating system (with the added perk of 1TB of space) is enough to steer customers away from the dominant Windows ecosystem.
