Android 4.4 KitKat coming soon for Galaxy S III

Samsung logoCanadian carrier Rogers has just confirmed the Android 4.4 KitKat update for a load of Samsung devices and one Sony smartphone. After delivering the upgrade for high-end smartphones such as Sony Xperia Z1, Samsung Galaxy S4 and LG G2, Rogers is now promising the same treatment for older, mid-range handsets.

Top of the list is Samsung Galaxy S III, which wasnt really in the cards for a KitKat update, although initially, the South Korean company has announced that the smartphone will eventually be upgraded to Android 4.4 at some point.

Next in line is the Galaxy Note 2, which was also confirmed for an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade, but Samsung has delayed the release for quite a long time.

Well, it looks like Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners who have purchased their smartphones through Rogers are in luck, as the carrier has just confirmed that the old phablet is on track for receiving the long-awaited update.

But these are not the only devices at Rogers that are promised the highly anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat update. According to Rogers OS Upgrades scheduler, the following Samsung devices should get the KitKat upgrade soon: Galaxy Mega, Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Note 8.0.
