In a similar manner to a recent Samsung leak, images of what are claimed to be the user interface of an upcoming Sony smartphone have surfaced. Claimed to be taken from the codenamed Sirius device, the screenshots apparently show that the device being used is capable of recording video at a 4K resolution, along with an answering machine function built into the device itself, instead of relying on a carrier.
The shots picked up by Xperia Blog come from a device running Android 4.4.2 and given the model number D6503, the same as Sirius. The camera app details mention Ultra HD video recording, augmented reality effects, manual settings, and "Timeshift Video," which records high frame-rate clips and applies slow-motion effects afterward.
The menus mention a "glove mode" and the option to adjust the white balance of the display as well as a smart backlight control that keeps the display turned on if it detects the user viewing it, just like in the Samsung Galaxy device range. A "Smart call handling" function lets calls be answered or rejected by motion gestures, with the dialer including an answering machine and call filtering.
Earlier rumors suggest that the Sirius is a successor to the Xperia Z1, and will ship with a 20.7-megapixel camera, use a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and will use a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1080p or greater.
