Samsung's two newest flagships may see an update to the latest flavor of Android, version 4.4 KitKat, as early as January of next year. French carrier SFR has announced that the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3 - both released earlier this year - will see an update to Android 4.4 around the end of January or the beginning of February of 2014. The carrier, according to SamMobile, has a healthy record of tipping release dates before Samsung does, so owners of the two new flagships may just a little over one month before they can have the most recent software on their devices..
The Galaxy S4 was released in April of this year, arriving with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean installed. That handset, the latest in the line of Samsung's best selling devices, saw an update to Android 4.3 just a few weeks ago.
The Galaxy Note 3 - itself the latest installment in a line that has sold tens of millions of units - debuted in October running Android 4.3. The carrier gave no word on when other Samsung flagship devices, such as the Galaxy Note 2 or the Galaxy S III, might receive the update.
