Microsoft has increased the free space offering on its file storage system OneDrive. Users on Android, Windows Phone, or iOS who switch on "camera backup" to the online storage locker will get a 15GB space bonus, increasing the amount of free space from 15GB to 30GB. Users have until the end of September to activate the feature to get the bonus space.
In the announcement, Microsoft noted the large free space requirement to install iOS 8 unconnected to iTunes. It said that "for those getting ready to install iOS8, this means you won't have to delete a bunch of photos or apps to make room for the upgrade."
The 15GB isn't limited to photo storage, and may be used for any type of file. Applications and other hooks to the file sharing service for computer operating systems are available, but the additional 15GB bonus for enabling the backup must be performed from a mobile device.
Additionally, users of Microsoft's Bing search engine can pay 475 points, or the equivalent of 950 searches, for 100GB of OneDrive storage for a year.
