The battle for mobile devices with curved displays is heating up, with reports suggesting that Samsung could announce such a smartphone soon, if not before the end of this week. The device, said to be called the Galaxy Round, could end up being revealed before rival LG launches a version with its own mass-produced curved screen.
The report from Asiae suggests that the device could have specifications similar to the Galaxy Note 3, something which has been hinted at previously in earlier rumors, though it isn't quite clear if the device will use the S Pen like its flat-screened counterpart. The display itself could be a flexible version using plastic substrates instead of glass, placed onto a solid backing in order to provide extra strength and to fix its position in place.
While it will almost certainly be released in South Korea initially, it is thought by Phone Arena to have a steep price due to the limited number of displays being produced. This could mean that it will be some time before it ends up being launched in other regions.
