Xbox 720 won't have Blu-ray drive

Microsoft logoA brand new report has appeared concerning the Xbox 720 console, claiming that the next-generation device from Microsoft won't have a Blu-ray drive, as previously rumored, and that it's going to appear in two versions – a 320GB and 500GB one.

Microsoft is preparing to reveal the Xbox 720 to the world soon enough, probably either in April at a special event or in June at E3 2013.

As such, reports about the new console have started appearing all over the place.

Now, website GamingCapacity claims that an inside source has provided it with new specifications for the console.

Besides things we already knew, like the fact that it's powered by an 8-core AMD CPU, the website says that a Blu-ray drive won't be featured by the console, despite previous rumors.

The console might appear at the end of 2013 in two versions, a 320GB and 500GB one. A separate 1TB hard drive will be made available separately.

While the source couldn’t say anything about a Kinect 2.0 sensor, it did mention that the SmartGlass tech supporting tablets and phones will still be present in the next-gen console.
