Samsung set to announce 'Something New' at CES 2013

Samsung logoSamsung is teasing with a short video posted online on Youtube, regarding the a new launch between January 8 and 11, which are the dates of Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013. Will it be the new Galaxy S4 smartphone?

The video doesn't give any specific information rather than the intrpduction of a new product. Given some of the words used - 'the world is waiting', the launch of Samsung' s next flagship handset is the most obvious assumption.

Earlier reports speculated that the Galaxy S4 would be unveiled at Mobile World Congress in February.

The latest from the rumor mill says that the device will sport an 'unbreakable screen'. In addition, the new smartphone is expcted to feature a 4.99-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 441ppi, a quad-core processor and a 13-megapixel camera.

Samdung's previous flagship Smartphone, the Galaxy S3, was launced just seven months ago.

Samsung also today unveiled the second group of new features coming to its Galaxy S3.

Available though the "Premium Suite" upgrade, the new software adds a Low-Light-Shot feature to the phone's camera, ensuring better picture-taking in dark environments. A "Best Face" feature allows users to take five pictures consecutively, and then choose which to keep. Samsung has also added a camera feature that tells users how many faces it can detect in the preview.

Samsung also says that the Premium Suite upgrade will come with an "Easy Mode" for novice users who only want to view the five most-frequently used widgets on their home screen. A sound balance mode lets users adjust the volume balance in either earphone.

The Facebook Lock Ticker supports checking a Facebook news feed straight from the lock screen, and you can simply tap on a status to "like" it right away, while Page Buddy can bring up the music player whenever you plug in the headphones.

Samsung announced on Friday that the Premium Suite upgrade pack would be making its way to the Galaxy S3.

Samsung hasn't said when it'll start rolling out its upgrade.
