Back in September, the International Trade Commission ruled that Apple wasn’t in violation of Samsung’s patents with its iOS lineup. Samsung obviously wasn’t too pleased to hear that, but luckily for the company, the ITC may have had a change of heart, and earlier this week news broke that the Commission was planning to reevaluate its decision. In light of that, Samsung has been speaking-up about the patent dispute, and one exec had some pointed things to say about Apple.
President of mobile communications Shin Jong-kyun didn’t split any hairs over his belief that Apple’s iOS devices are fundamentally built upon Samsung patents, saying, “without Samsung-owned wireless patents, it’s impossible for the Cupertino-based Apple to produce its handsets.”
While his opinions may be clear, Shin is realistic in his expectations for what the ITC reconsideration might mean for Samsung. He admits that the situation “doesn’t necessarily mean Samsung is better-positioned for the fight with Apple. But Samsung will do its best“.
With any luck, word of the ITC’s follow-up decision could arrive in January.
