Acer takes on Google Nexus 7 with new Iconia A110 Tablet

Acer logoAcer on Thursday announced the Iconia Tab A110, an affordable tablet starting at $230 with a 7-inch screen and Google's Android 4.1 OS.

The tablet weighs 453 grams and provides up to 7.5 hours of battery life. It is positioned to compete with Google's Nexus 7 and the Amazon Kindle Fire HD, which are both priced at $199.

Acer Iconia A110

The Iconia Tab A110 features a 7-inch 1024 x 600 pixels display - not as high as the 1280 by 800 pixels resolution on Google's tablet. However ,the A110 is powerful with a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 8GB of storage and Jelly Bean. Additional features include a camera, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 3.0 and a micro-HDMI port.

The tablet will ship starting on Oct. 30 in the U.S. and Canada.

Acer's tablet comes a few days ahead of Apple's expected launch on Tuesday of a new smaller iPad.
