ZTE to Announce an Advanced Gaming Smartphone on July 18

ZTE logoChinese company ZTE has just confirmed plans to release new product on the smartphone market. According to the company’s officials, one ZTE gaming phone will be announced on July 18.

The information was published today via ZTE’s Twitter account and does not offer any other additional details: “The countdown has begun! 6 days left until you can have one of the MOST ADVANCED GAMING SMARTPHONES in your hands!”

This is a surprising move coming from the Chinese handset maker, which is mostly known for its low-end products.

There's a high chance that the gaming smartphone that will be announced next week might even challenge the Sony Xperia PLAY, which has just been denied the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

We’re not sure if this upcoming ZTE smartphone will be powered by Android platform, or the Chinese company has something else in mind, but stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
