Samsung could bring a 55-inch OLED TV to the CES show this January, i4u claimed. The panel would make it the largest OLED set of its kind and could start shipping as soon as the spring of next year. Pricing is still a mystery, but it's likely to be fairly high, as the technology is relatively young and the panel's construction is expensive.
The technology offers some advantages over current LED-lit LCD and plasma displays, in that they are more energy efficient, thinner, and produce deeper colors. They occasionally face issues with oversaturated colors.
Rival LG is also planning on releasing a 55-inch OLED TV set, and it's also likely to arrive next year. The company currently offers a 31-inch set, priced at a very high $9,200.
