Nokia may have given a clue as to the release of its first Windows Phone devices through its special event timing. At the same time as it was unveiling schedule for October 26 and October 27. With promises that the WP7 phones would be on shelves by the end of the year, the start of the show will be timed at just such a point that Nokia could reveal the hardware in time to ship during 2011.
The event calendar itself doesn't have direct clues, although the Speakers' Corners section has a conspicuous "to be announced" section.
Among the first devices are expected to be the W7 and W8. Both would be largely direct conversions of the X7 and N8 with modern Snapdragon processors and displays. These may be experiments and run-ups to genuinely new designs in early 2012.
