Nokia is now shipping its Bicycle Charger Kit in Europe, though it's later than expected and twice as expensive. Included is a charger, holder, mounting bracket and a dynamo that generates current by hugging up against the spinning tire's sidewall. The components are weatherproofed, and a plastic bag is included with the holder to protect the phone itself from rain.
Nokia promises 28 minutes of talk time from just 10 minutes spent moving at between 4 and 50mph, though this depends on the phone being charged. It's compatible with all Nokia handsets that have a 2mm charger interface.
The charger costs the equivalent of $41 (?30) and is now available in Europe. When or if it will come to other markets remains to be seen.
