Microsoft's Kinect sensors have already reached one million sales across the globe. The milestone was achieved in just 10 days of availability, and nearly two weeks before shoppers will flood stores for the biggest selling day of the year, Black Friday.
The company initially expected the Xbox 360 accessory to surpass 3 million units by the end of the year, but the forecast was recently revised to reflect stronger-than-expected demand. Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business president, Don Matrick, suggests the sensor is set to reach 5 million units before the holiday shopping season is over.
"There were lines of customers at our stores all over the country on the night of the Kinect launch," said Best Buy senior VP Chris Homeister. "It's no surprise Microsoft has already surpassed 1 million units sold, and we expect Kinect to be one of the must-have gifts at Best Buy this holiday."
The standalone Kinect sensor and several bundles are already available in North American and European markets, while many Asian countries will be added near the end of the week.
