Samsung announced the Exynos 8895 chipset in the Galaxy S8 as a member of its Exynos 9-series, even though it is coded with the number eight still, so a true Exynos 9xxx is yet to hit the tape. This may all be changing soon, though, as a leakster with a proven track record of outing mobile processors before they are announced, has posted some info on an eventual Exynos 9610.
Still built on the 10nm process as the Galaxy S8 chipset, the 9610 is said to land with four powerful Cortex-A73 nodes, clocked at 2.4 GHz, and four frugal Cortex-A53 ones for the mundane tasks, accompanied by a Mali-G71 graphics subsystem. This seems to be an upgrade of the 8895, perhaps with a second-gen 10nm process, allowing for higher frequency and with more powerful GPU. Could it be the one to power the Note 8? There have been rumors it may come with a beefed up processor indeed.
Another upcoming Samsung processor that the source tips, is the Exynos 7885 - this one is built on a 14nm node, and has two A73 and four A53 cores, clocked at 2.1 GHz, and again flaunting Mali-G71 graphics. The Exynos 7885 is apparently for the Galaxy A7 (2018), which leaked not long ago courtesy of a benchmark site with exactly the clock frequency listed.
Last but not least, the source mentions that it won't be the Exynos 9610 that will go into the Galaxy S9, but rather a mysterious Exynos 9810, whose specs are still to be revealed. Given the rumors that Samsung will be moving to the 7nm process for the S9 and Note 9, the 9810 might differ from the 9610 in exactly this important metric - the die shrink - and 7nm should bring an even more powerful and frugal Exynos than this year's generation.
