NVIDIA Releases GeForce GT 240 Into the Mid-range Market

NVIDIA logoNvidia's GeForce GT 240 GPU slipped off today targeting the mainstream desktop PCs and bringing support of DirectX 10.1 and higher speed to the sub-$100 market segment.

The GeForce GT 240 allows the viewing of flawless Adobe Flash 10.1 video in full screen HD, NVIDIA 3D Vision, NVIDIA PhysX effects and CUDA acceleration.

Compared to the Nvidia 9600GT, the Geforce GT 240 is 20% faster, and also offers a little more performance than NVIDIA's existing 40nm cards, the low-end GeForce 210 and GeForce GT 220.

The card is shipping with a 40nm GPU operating at 550MHz, it features 96 stream processors clocked at 1,340MHz and comes equipped with either GDDR3 or GDDR5 memory, in 512MB or 1,024MB capacities.

Palit, Biostar, Inno3D and ECS have already announced today their offerings based on the GeForce GT 240, which comes equipped with DVI, HDMI and D-sub 15pin connectors.
