HMD official says Nokia phones will hit shelves in Q2

Nokia logoHMD Global announced a number of Nokia phones during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year. Although pre-orders for the new phones are already live in a number of European countries, it seems that the devices won’t arrive until Q2.

HMD Global’s Head of Marketing for Eastern Europe, Tomislav Himbele, has stated in a recent interview that Nokia-branded phones will arrive to the market in the second half of Q2. This means that they will hit shelves in mid-May at the earliest.

The official has also revealed that prices for the new phones will be different than the ones announced during MWC. This is partially due to the fact that European countries don’t have the same value-added tax (VAT).

HMD official says Nokia phones will hit shelves in Q2

HMD Global announced the Nokia 3 during MWC 2017, with a price tag of ?139, while Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 should be sold for about ?189 and ?229, respectively. Nokia 6 Arte Black Limited Edition will have a price tag of ?299, but it might be available only in select markets.

The new Nokia 3310 feature phone is the cheapest out of all the recently announced devices, with a price tag of just ?49, appealing to customers who are nostalgic about the old times when phones rarely ran out of battery.

In addition, the official revealed HMD Global’s ambitious plans for the future, saying that the company intends to become one of the top three smartphone makers in the world. HMD Global wants to stand on the podium of phone makers within the next three years, taking on giants like Samsung and Apple.

Undoubtedly, HMD Global and its Nokia-branded phones are off to a good start, seeing how demand in both Europe and Asian countries exceeded expectations, while the phone that truly left a mark during MWC 2017 was surely the modern Nokia 3310.
