There have been a few companies that have debuted proprietary fast-charging technology. For example last year Oppo unveiled their own Super VOOC charging technology, and OnePlus also debuted their own technology in the form of Dash Charge, so it doesn’t really come as a complete surprise that Meizu decided to create something of their own as well.
Announced at MWC 2017, Meizu has taken the wraps off the Super mCharge, the company’s proprietary fast-charging technology that will apparently fully charge a phone from zero to 100% in a blinding 20 minutes. Yup, this means that you could go for a meal, come back, and your phone is good to go.
According to Meizu, this was made possible thanks to the use of charge pumps which utilizes “two groups of conversion circuits to directly output half of the voltage.” This supposedly helps increase the charging efficiency from 9% to 98%, and according to Meizu, they measured the temperatures of the batteries while charging and found that they topped at 39 degrees Celsius, which should still be relatively safe.
Meizu did not mention when their Super mCharge technology would find its way into their phones or other third-party devices, although we have a feeling that another proprietary fast-charging technology is something that Google can’t be too thrilled about.
