HTC's next flagship to be called “U Ultra,” rumored to pack 6-inch display

HTC logoHTC has already confirmed a launch event for January 12, and from what information we've been able to gather, it's going to be another flagship smartphone. In fact, previous reports claim the Taiwanese company is likely to announce three new handsets next week.

The so-called Ocean family is a new breed of HTC smartphones that will focus on display, camera and audio. Two of them are known as Ocean Smart and Ocean Master, while the flagship is likely to be called “U Ultra.”

The new details have been recently revealed by @OnLeaks, though the leakster mentions the information comes from an unverified source, so take it with a grain of salt.

Another piece of information related to the upcoming HTC flagship is the fact that it will boast a huge 6-inch display. Some of you will probably not like that HTC will ditch the 3.5mm audio jack in favor of a standard USB Type-C port.

Hopefully, this time HTC will add an adapter in the sales package, something that it forgot to do when it launched the HTC Bolt back in November.

HTC U Ultra will be available in three colors at first: black, blue and white. However, we don't rule out the addition of new color options in the months following its release on the market.

Nothing else is known about HTC's flagship, but the recent rumor comes in line with the company's teaser, which features a big “U” letter in the middle.

Even though we're a little bit more than a week away from the official unveil of the HTC U Ultra, we expect more details about the device to leak in the coming days.

Until then, let's see what other handset makers plan to reveal this week at CES 2017 trade fair, which runs between January 5 and January 8, 2017.
