Apple hasn’t updated its tablets in quite some time now which is why the rumor mill is abuzz with speculation about the company’s upcoming tablets. Apple is expected to launch a couple of new iPads at an event in March even though nothing has been officially confirmed as yet. The 10.9 inch iPad is expected to be bezel-less and it might even be of the same thickness as the iPad Air. The new iPad Pro might see an increase in thickness of just 3mm.
Japanese publication Macotakara reports that the 10.9 inch iPad is going to be bezel-less on the sides and that it’s going to measure in at 7.5mm, similar to the iPad Air. Apparently the tablet is going to retain the top and bottom bezels and the FaceTime camera will be in its familiar place.
According to sources cited in the report, the home button is missing from the designs seen so far, so perhaps rumors about an iPad sans Home button are finally going to come true. This is pure speculation right now and should be treated as such. Given that we’re potentially a few months away from the launch of new iPads, it’s not likely that Apple will make major changes to the products this late in the annual cycle.
Rumor has it that the 12.9 inch iPad Pro is going to slightly grow in thickness by 3mm and that it’s also going to retain the top and bottom bezel. While AMOLED displays have often been rumored for the tablets, Apple is not believed to be adopting AMOLED displays for iPads until 2018.
