One of the world's largest smartphone makers, Huawei recently unveiled its latest flagship phablet, the Mate 9. The handst is expected to make its debut on the market by the end of the year for ?700.
However, Huawei does have another lineup of high-end smartphones, the P series. Just like other handset manufacturers, the Chinese company launches two flagships per year. The first one is a P series phone and is usually unveiled in the spring, while the second one is announced in the fall.
Although we're many months ahead of the Huawei P10 reveal, it looks like the first information about the unannounced devices have just emerged.
A smartphone with codename Huawei LON-L29 has just been spotted at GFXBench and looking at its specs, it does seem to be the company's upcoming flagship. Not to mention that the current Huawei flasghip, the P9 is also known as LON-L19.
For example, the phone is equipped with the powerful Kirin 960 chipset, the same that's packed inside the latest Mate 9 phablet. On top of that, the phone comes with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory.
That seems an unusual amount of storage for a prototype unit, but it's great news that Huawei plans to bring on the market such a powerful device. The Kirin 960 processor inside the phone goes along with a Mali-G71 graphics processing unit.
Since GFXBench does not offer to many details on the camera setup, we aren't sure whether or not the P10 will feature the same dual-camera combo on the back, just like its predecessor.
However, we do know that Huawei P10 features a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with 4K video recording, LED flash, face detection, and HDR support.
There's also a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front for selfies. The P10 sports a large 5.5-inch display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, unlike the P9 that packs a 5.2-inch full HD display.
As expected, the Huawei P10 runs Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box, but it might come with an even newer version when it gets released next year.
