Micro-Star International (MSI) is expected to launch AMD Yukon-based ultra-thin notebooks in October 2009 at the earliest, according to industry sources.
MSI has completed the testing on the Yukon-based models but has not yet decided the launch date due to the low adoption rate of Yukon models in the market, the sources noted.
In the related news, launch of AMD's upcoming Tigris notebook platform may be postponed to late-October as future notebook demand remains opaque, and related notebook models from vendors may not appear in the channel until November, the sources noted.
AMD's Tigris platform previously was expected to launch at the beginning of September along with Windows 7 in the Asia market, followed by North America, Europe, Mid-East and Africa in October. The company has already landed orders from Hewlett-Packard (HP), Toshiba, Acer and Asustek Computer, according to the previous reports.
In response, AMD reiterated that Tigris will be launched in the second half of 2009.
