Huawei's rumored Kirin 950 SoC benchmarked, tops score tallied by the Exynos 7420

Huawei logoHuawei 's home grown Kirin 950 SoC is rumored to be the company's latest top-shelf chipset. Back in July, a full specs sheet was leaked showing that the chip features four Cortex-A72 cores (with a maximum clock speed of 2.4GHz), and four Cortex-A57 cores. According to the specs sheet, the Kirin 950 also supports LPDDR4 RAM, and can handle a 42MP camera.

Using the Geekbench benchmark test, the Kirin 950 scored a 1909 for the single-core test, and 6096 for the multi-core test. That beat out the scores received by the Exynos 7420 of 1486 and 4970 for single-core and multi-core respectively. The Exynos 7420 is the chipset that provides the horsepower for the Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung Galaxy Note5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+.

Allegedly produced by TSMC using its 16nm FinFET process, we could see the Kirin 950 inside handsets like the Huawei Mate 8, which reportedly has been delayed until next year.
