Sony's slim PS3 may start shipping as early as next month if a claim from China's UDN. It points to the smaller, redesigned model being made by Foxconn (Hon Hai) with expectations that Sony would receive it in July. The publication doesn't say when Sony would start selling the system in earnest, but recent credible rumors have the updated model surfacing just weeks after this newest shipment takes place.
Following high-profile leaks, most believe the newer PS3 won't just be slimmer but will have smaller, cooler processing and graphics that make the smaller casing possible and should swell the minimum storage to 120GB.
The same story also implies that a new generation console will ship in 2010, though the wording isn't clear in translation. Continued high prices for the PS3 make it more likely that this will involve bundling the motion control wand due in spring rather than a complete revision.
