Acer Liquid Leap is the company’s first smartwatch

Acer logoThe wearable technology trend is becoming quite popular and already a lot of major companies are battling it out in the market. Acer has joined the pack today as well. At an event in New York City the company announced Acer Liquid Leap, which is a smartwatch cum fitness tracker that allows the user to keep an eye on their workout information. Alongside the new wearable Acer also unveiled the Liquid Jade, a new smartphone.

The 5-inch Liquid Jade is Acer’s new flagship Android smartphone. Its possible that the Liquid Jade might get access to some exclusive Liquid Leap features. Acer’s smartwatch is going to work with other Androids as well though.

Acer hasn’t revealed much about both devices. It only said that the smartwatch is 17 mm wide and that it will be released in limited markets as a bundle with Liquid Jade this July. No specific date has been provided. Acer didn’t even talk about the specifications or features at length so we’ll have to wait for that information.

The company won’t launch these devices in the U.S. initially so it might take them even longer to become available Stateside. Acer didn’t talk pricing, but it did mention that the smartwatch will be “competitively priced,” whatever that means.
