ASUS logoAlthough Asus PadFone X is exclusively available in the United States from AT&T, the newly announced PadFone mini will be up fro grab from multiple carriers.

The smartphone has been confirmed to arrive in the US in Q1 2014 for $250 (?185), but we're still waiting to see which operators will carry the cheapest smartphone/tablet hybrid launched by Asus.

Unlike the rest of PadFone hybrids, the mini version comprises of a 4-inch smartphone and 7-inch tablet, which was to be expected considering the device's low price.

However, this might be a solid choice for those who wish to experience Android platform on both small and larger screens while on the go.

Asus PadFone mini sports a 4-inch IPS+ capacitive touchscreen display that supports 800 x 480 pixels resolution. The phone ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but Asus has already confirmed it will offer an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade at some point.

On the back, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel main camera, while in the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera for high quality photos and video chat.

Furthermore, the device comes with dual-SIM support and features exclusive ASUS DynamicDisplay technology that automatically resizes apps for the different display sizes.

The tablet that goes along with the PadFone mini smartphone sports a 7-inch IPS+ capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1280 x 800 pixels resolution.

It is also worth mentioning the phone is powered by a 1170 mAh non-removable battery, whereas the tablet comes packed with a 2100 mAh non-removable battery.

Last but not least, the hybrid “benefits from ZenUI, a new user interface that’s exclusive to ASUS smart devices.” The new user interface features “simplified icons and menus, a selection of themes beautifully designed to match the device colors and a clever What’s Next feature that helps users keep track of their lives.”
