A rumor that Google is interested in buying WhatsApp has been making the rounds for the past few days. This isn't the first such rumor, last time around, in December, it was Facebook that was said to be interested in the company.
But WhatsApp has once again stepped in to deny the rumors and say that WhatsApp is not being sold to Google.
In fact, Neeraj Arora, WhatsApp's business development head, made it clear that there were no sale talks with Google.
While the app, which has become very popular, may be interesting to plenty of companies, including Google, there didn't seem to be much of a match between the two especially since Google is working on its own messaging service Babel.
If anything, WhatsApp seems like a better match with Yahoo than Google, especially since Yahoo is looking to bulk up on the mobile front and it's doing it by acquiring mobile startups.
