As part of Apple's Q1 2013 earnings call, Tim Cook revealed that Apple has sold more than 500 million iOS devices, up from the 400 million that we last heard. During the last quarter, the company sold iOS devices at the frankly wild rate of 10 per second — brand new iPhone and iPad models certainly contributed to that extreme pace.
Additionally, the company also revealed that there are now 250 million iCloud accounts. That's up from the 190 million that Apple touted last quarter when it reported earnings — given the company sold some 70 million iOS devices this quarter, we're not surprised to see them pass the 250 million mark for iCloud. Of course, Apple's still trailing Android a bit — Google announced 500 million Android activations back in September, so it has certainly increased quite a bit since then.
As for the app situation, the App Store passed 800,000 apps this quarter — still a bit ahead of what's available in the Google Play store.
