Acer chairman, JT Wang, recently forecast that the company's notebook shipments will remain flat through July and August 2009 and chance to pick up in September with help from Windows 7.
Wang pointed out that the market status still remains low in both Europe and the US, while China is currently seeing better performance.
Although the global economy has already hit bottom, the how long a complete recovery will take still remains unclear, Wang noted.
Although Aymar de Lencquesaing, president of Acer's Smart Handheld Business Group, recently forecast that the company will ship 2-2.5 million own-brand smartphones in 2010, Wang is more cautious saying that, since the company is still new to the smartphone market, its main aim will be to break one million units in 2010.
Acer has approved the distribution of dividends per share of NT$2 (US$0.06) in cash and NT$0.10 in stock.
